PRESS RELEASE Are you looking for a Doctor?
The House of Lazarus has invited the Seaway Valley Community Health Centre (SVCHC) to partner with them to become a point of access for primary care services for local Dundas County residents. While the House of Lazarus has provided the space, the SVCHC will supply a physician.

The House of Lazarus is an ecumenical registered charity and non-profit organization in Mountain, North Dundas County. The main services provided by the House of Lazarus include the Food Bank, Thrift Shop and Household Goods Shop which is open to the public Monday through Saturday. Additional services include client advocacy, pastoral care, crisis intervention, client referral, suicide intervention and nutrition and budgeting education.

The SVCHC is also a non-profit, community-governed organization that provides primary health care, health promotion and community development services to residents of Cornwall and Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Counties. Services are designed to meet the specific needs of a defined community using an inter-professional team approach. In the case of North Dundas County, there is an identified need for additional physicians to see patients who do not have access to a family doctor.

As a result, the partnership is under development and SVCHC will soon provide the services of a physician on-site at the House of Lazarus on Mondays and Tuesdays. Services are expected to commence as early as December 2011.
