AGM & Guest Speaker: Cultural Diversity
Notice is hereby given that an Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Seaway Valley Community Health Centre, located at 353 Pitt Street, Cornwall, Ontario, will be held on Wednesday, June 26th, 2013, From 8:00 to 10:30 a.m.
Registration at 7:45 a.m.
The AGM's Key-Note Speaker is SALMA DEBS-IVALL, RN, MSCN. Cultural Diversity: In this short interactive session we will explore and build the foundation for cultural and diversity awareness, the building block towards cultural competence. We will build a case for the need for cultural competence in healthcare and explore the two worldviews that colour our cultural values and beliefs. We will also explore the fundamental cultural phenomena that we deal with within ourselves and with our clients. There is no charge for attendance and this invitation is open to anyone in our community including our partners in healthcare. Seaway Valley Community Health Centre (SVCHC) has moved its point of access for primary care services for local Dundas County residents to 547 St. Lawrence Street in Winchester.
The SVCHC is a non-profit, community-governed organization that provides primary health care, health promotion and community development services to residents of Cornwall and Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Counties. Services are designed to meet the specific needs of a defined community using an inter-professional team approach. In the case of North Dundas County, there is an identified need for additional physicians to see patients who do not have access to a family doctor.

Patient Eligibility:
Anyone without a physician and living in Dundas County is eligible to apply to become a patient.

Registration Process:
To register, drop by 547 St. Lawrence Street location starting Monday, September 10th, 2012, and pick up a registration form, or download a registration form at www.seawayvalleychc.ca (click on Dundas County Registration) and drop off or mail to Seaway Valley CHC, 353 Pitt Street, Cornwall, ON K6J 3R1, or call 1-888-936-0306 for more information.

Mr. Blake Barry, Chair of the Board of Directors of Seaway Valley Community Health Centre, welcomed the crowd to the Opening and invited everyone to tour the new building and learn about the Centre’s Programs and Services. Live music was provided by local artist Roxanne Delage. The Centre’s artwork installation in the reception area was commissioned from local artist Tracy-Lynn Chisholm.
