Exercise Fun for Seniors!
Join in on the fun way to become more fit and healthy. Learn Falls Prevention strategies to help you reduce the chance of personal injury due to falls. Different locations and intensity levels to suit your needs. Call Corrie D'Alessio, 613-930-4892 ext. 152 to register.
 
Wellness Walker's Group
Join us in the spring, summer and fall as we meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 am to walk outdoors in Lamoureux Park. Enjoy the health benefits of physical activity in the fresh air while we stroll along the beautiful St. Lawrence River in the company of friends. Get W.I.T.H. it! (walking in the halls) Heart Wise walking program
Seaway Valley CHC is leading a partnership with the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and the Heart and Stroke Foundation to offer a free Heart Wise Walking program. Join us at the Cornwall Civic Complex every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Call Corrie D'Alessio, Community Health Worker at 613-930-4892 ext. 152.
 
Cardiac Exercise Program-for patients discharged form the Heart Institute within the last few months
A partnership between the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, Seaway Valley Community Health Centre and the Ontario Telemedicine Network is helping residents from Cornwall and area who are living with heart disease receive the specialized rehabilitation care they require to live a healthier life. Nutrition Counselling
A Registered Dietitian is available to provide one-on-one or family nutrition counselling on a variety of health issues including general healthy eating, weight (loss or gain), high cholesterol, high blood pressure, kidney disease, digestive problems, sports nutrition, etc. No referral needed. Men in the Kitchen: Senior Men's Cooking Group
Whether you are single and learning or just want to upgrade your cooking skills, this is a men's basic cooking program for seniors. The sessions will help you plan balanced meals, follow recipes and cook healthy, economical and easy dishes that serve one or two. Call Nancy Herrington, Health Educator/Promoter at 613-930-4892 ext. 151 to reserve a spot.

 
Cooking for One Nutrition Program
This 5 week program focuses on planning and preparing meals for one (or two). Session topics include how to eat a healthy balanced diet, shopping for healthy foods, spending less on groceries and storing food safely. Enjoy all in the company of new friends! Chronic Disease Self-Management Programs
Living a healthy life with chronic conditions. A free educational workshop giving you the tools to live a healthy life! Understand and manage symptoms; get started with making lifestyle changes; communicate effectively with your health care team, make daily tasks easier, set goals and problem solve, take action and live a healthy life! Heart Institute Education Workshops via Telehealth
You can now take advantage of the free Education Workshops provided by the Ottawa Heart Institute right here in Cornwall at the Seaway Valley Community Health Centre! Topics include 'ABCs to Heart Healthy Eating', 'Heart Healthy Eating with Diabetes' and 'Nutrition Tips for Weight Management'. GLBTQ Community
LGBTQ Social Support Group: People of all ages from GLBTQ community along with friends and family are invited to attend the first Thursday of every month from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, at Seaway Valley Community Health Centre. Social interaction, support and opportunity to discuss issues specific to GLBTQ community. For further information contact Chris Clapp, MSW RSW at 613-936-0306 ext. 153. Green Food Box (GFB)
Enjoy healthy fruits and vegetables at a low cost by ordering your Green Food Box. This non-profit initiative is a great way to access healthy food. There are $10 and $15 boxes available. Order on the 1st Friday of every month. Pick up your box at Seaway Valley Community Health Centre) the 3rd Wednesday of the same month. Stress Management Course
Stress can never be eliminated from our lives, but it can be managed so that it does not affect our health. This is a 6-session course teaching skills to better manage stress. Diabetes Education Program
If you have pre-diabetes or just discovered you have diabetes, learn how to live a healthy life. The sessions are led by a Registered Nurse, a Registered Dietitian and the Health Educator/Promoter. Call Angela Samson, Registered Nurse at 613-937-0478 ext. 338 to register.
 
STOP with NRT Smoking Cessation Program
Quitting is possible and it is never too late! Studies show that combining the use of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT-patch &/or gum, inhaler) with support doubles your chance of success.
